Disorders of the blood coagulation-fibrinolytic system
Most human cells have no direct contact with the external environment and their living conditions are ensured by blood. An essential criterion for normal blood circulation is the ability of the blood to arrest bleeding at sites of tissue injury and to prevent thrombus formation inside the blood vessels under normal conditions. The balance between these two extreme states is rigorously controlle...
متن کاملBlood coagulation and plasma fibrinolytic enzyme system pathophysiology in stroke.
Plasma fibrinogen chromatography is a method for quantification of high molecular weight fibrinogen complexes (HMWFC), native fibrinogen and other fibrinogen derivatives in plasma. Enchanced formation of fibrin, intravascular coagulation, thrombus formation, etc., are reflected by elevation of plasma HMWFC, and the method distinguishes between subjects with normal and pathological rates of fibr...
متن کاملEffect of gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) venom on blood coagulation, platelets, and the fibrinolytic enzyme system.
The action of the venom of the gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) on blood coagulation, platelets, and the fibrinolytic enzyme system was studied. The results confirm that the venom of Bitis gabonica has a marked anticoagulant action in vitro. The venom appears to impair clot formation by a direct proteolytic action on fibrinogen, releasing soluble breakdown products.
متن کاملDisequilibrium of Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolytic System in Patients With Coronary Artery Ectasia
Thrombus formation and myocardial infarction are not uncommon in patients with coronary artery ectasia (CAE). In light of this, the present study aims to systemically evaluate the blood coagulation and fibrinolytic systems in CAE patients. In this study, we enrolled 30 patients with CAE, 30 patients with coronary atherosclerosis disease (CAD), and 29 subjects with normal coronary arteries (cont...
متن کاملCoagulation and fibrinolytic activity of cerebrospinal fluid.
Fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products (fragments D and E) were detected in cerebrospinal fluid in 23.4% of 252 patients admitted to a neurological/neurosurgical unit. Other coagulation proteins of low molecular weight (plasminogen and factor IX) were also present but larger proteins (fibrinogen and factor V) were not. These findings are consistent with protein leakage across a blood-CSF barrie...
